Intro To Pistols Class

For anyone who wants to learn safe firearms handling and the fundamentals of pistol shooting in a safe, zero-pressure, small class environment.

Intro To Pistols Class

Have you never touched a gun before? Have you shot long guns but never really done anything with pistols? Are you familiar with guns, but still a little hesitant with them? Are you ready to build confidence and skills with a pistol while learning how to safely own and use one? This is the class for you. We understand that every student is different, from age to physical abilities, so we don’t teach one-and-only-one way to shoot; we teach the fundamental concepts that you can apply to your context to improve your skills and abilities. In the Intro to Pistols Class, you’ll learn:

  • The rules of firearm safety, and how to APPLY the rules to the real world,
  • Explore what size of pistol best fits your hands,
  • How to load and unload your firearm,
  • How to care for and store your firearm,
  • What ammo to use for different purposes,
  • How to grip your pistol consistently and confidently,
  • Proper stance when firing a pistol,
  • How to aim the pistol,
  • How to press the trigger and not move the gun, and
  • Drills and techniques to practice on your own.

Students will also shoot various drills that will help them quantify their abilities and identify skills they want to work on. In addition to the live-fire portion of the class, students will also learn dry-fire drills and techniques they can use on and off the range to accelerate their skills development.

This class is taught entirely at the range.
